The Stoughton Municipal Court, which includes the City of Stoughton and the Townships of Dunkirk, Pleasant Springs and Rutland, hears all non-criminal traffic and municipal ordinance violations. The Honorable Judge Scott Dirks presides over the Stoughton Municipal Court.
The Municipal Court is an independent branch of government constitutionally entrusted with the fair and just resolution of disputes in order to preserve the rule of law and to protect the rights and liberties guaranteed by the constitution and laws of the United States and the State of Wisconsin.
Court is held twice monthly beginning at 5:00 p.m. for Initial Appearances, and at 6:00 p.m. for Hearings and Trials. Juvenile cases are heard in closed session on the first Wednesday of the month and Adult cases are heard on the third Wednesday. The Adult session is open to the public and broadcast live on our local cable television station WSTO.
