PLEA EXPLANATIONS:

Guilty:
A Guilty plea means you admit to the charge(s). The Judge will review the citation(s) and police report, along with any information you wish to provide, and enter judgment as appropriate, which could include a reduction of the charge(s) and/or financial penalties, just as if you appeared in person. No Contest:
A No Contest plea means you neither admit nor deny the charge(s), but you state that you do not choose to contest the charge(s). The effect is the same as a plea of Guilty except that the finding of guilt, as a result of this plea, may not be used against you to establish civil liability. The Judge will review the citation(s) and police report, along with any information you wish to provide, and enter judgment as appropriate, which could include a reduction of the charge(s) and/or financial penalties, just as if you appeared in person. Not Guilty:
If you plead Not Guilty, your case will be set for a Pretrial Conference with the City Attorney. At the Pretrial Conference, your case will be reviewed on the basis of the police reports and any other records that may be present. You will have a chance to discuss the merits of the case on an informal basis. The matter may be settled at the Pretrial Conference. If, however, the issues cannot be settled at the Pretrial Conference, your case will be scheduled for trial before the Court. A Pretrial Notice will be mailed to you at the above address.
